Former UFC and WWE champion Ronda Rousey confirmed this week that her debut at AEW: Revolution in March was a random appearance and there are no long-term plans for her to wrestle for the company.
Two months ago, the women’s mixed martial arts icon surprised wrestling fans when she made an unexpected appearance at AEW: Revolution. She entered the ring following Toni Storm’s match with Rousey’s long-time pal Marina Shafir, and she and the AEW women’s division legend had a face-off.
The moment seemed to be done to set up a big match at a future event between Storm and Rousey. However, in the days following the event, a report revealed that her appearance came together quickly before Revolution, and was as much about promoting her May bout with fellow WMMA great Gina Carano.
Well, in a new interview, Rousey has pretty much confirmed there are no plans for a return, and it looks like AEW wasted their time.
Rousey on AEW appearance: ‘It happened to be in town, and my friend was there’

“No, that life of being on the road is probably more time-consuming than doing training camp at home,” Rousey said when asked about a run in AEW during an appearance on Up & Adams. “I had a great time [appearing at Revolution], but it just happened to be in town, and my best friend was there.”
Did the moment stun wrestling fans and get a ton of attention on social media? Absolutely. If that was the goal, then mission accomplished. But if AEW boss Tony Khan was hoping for much more, it looks like Rousey’s random appearance will be just that and deliver no payoff for AEW fans in the future.
