MJF was asked about the possibility of Mick Foley appearing in AEW ahead of Double or Nothing and responded fully in character, doing nothing to dismiss the speculation.

Speaking with SNY, MJF called Foley fat and ugly before drawing a comparison to his upcoming opponent, saying Foley was the blueprint for what Darby Allin is today — which he said made him dislike Foley even more.

“I think Mick Foley is fat and he’s ugly,” MJF responded when asked what he thinks about the Foley-AEW speculation. “I think he was the blueprint of what Darby Allin is now, which makes me hate him even more. That’s what I think of Mick Foley.”

MJF faces Allin in the main event of Double or Nothing at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens this Sunday. It is a hair vs. title match, with MJF having agreed to put his hair on the line in exchange for a rematch against Allin’s AEW World Championship.

The Takedown on SI reported last week that AEW has expressed “real” interest in working with Foley, with Double or Nothing potentially serving as a landing spot, given the event takes place near where Foley grew up on Long Island. Whether any appearance would be a one-time deal or the start of a longer arrangement has not been determined.

Foley and MJF have a history of mutual interest in working together. When Foley was considering coming out of retirement for one final match, Dave Meltzer reported that MJF was the opponent he had in mind. That plan was shelved after Foley suffered a concussion in training in 2024. Any AEW involvement would likely involve limited or no in-ring physicality.

Foley’s WWE Legends deal is set to expire in June. He announced plans to let it lapse after taking issue with WWE’s relationship with the current administration. WWE Legends contracts restrict royalties, merchandising, and the use of likeness but do not outright prevent outside appearances — Rob Van Dam previously worked AEW matches while under a similar deal. Foley has already made recent appearances for OVW and GCW ahead of any formal free agency.
