In a surprising reveal, AEW great Kenny Omega claims he has no interest in a big, grand send-off similar to what John Cena and Sting have received to end their career.

Despite never competing in WWE, Kenny Omega has had a legendary career. He built his name in New Japan and turned into the promotion’s greatest foreign-born performer. Then he took that notoriety to help be a co-founder of the No. 2 company in the industry, AEW.

In All Elite Wrestling, he has added his too his legacy with a memorable world title run, and countless classic matches since AEW was founded six years ago. Omega has cemented his place as one of the greatest wrestlers of his generation.

He has a resume deserving of a dramatic conclusion whenever he does decide to hang up his wrestling boots for good. And such send-offs have become very popular in the business of late. WWE icon John Cena is in the middle of a year-long retirement tour. Goldberg received a main event retirement match in the Fall, and AEW went to great lengths to give Sting a proper final bout.

However, according to Omega, he doesn’t want to end his career like that. He actually would prefer to fade away and for AEW fans not to even realize he is gone.

“I don’t want to completely work until the wheels fall off, and that person who leaves wrestling is one who barely resembles the Kenny Omega of old,” Omega told Shak Wrestling. “I’ve been thinking a lot about when that time would be. One important thing for me, too, is that when I finally do leave, whenever that may be, this might sound odd, but I don’t want people to be sad. I

“In fact, the best case scenario for me would be that they don’t realize I’m gone at all. I would love to have the peace of mind that the company has built enough stars so that their star is shining bright enough to distract from me stepping away from the scene. That would make me the happiest,” he added.
