It has been a year since Chris Jericho stepped into an AEW ring. At first, he was away to tour with his band Fozzy and was expected to return. However, by the fall, speculation grew that his time in All Elite Wrestling was coming to an end and he would return to the company that made him a household name, WWE.
But the rumor winds seem to be shifting again. Earlier this year, reports emerged that AEW froze his contract in what seemed like a tactic to keep him away from WWE. He has also remained on the company’s roster page. But then last week the wrestling legend filed to trademark the phrase “cornerstone.” A potential nickname that would seem like a far better fit in AEW than for a comeback in WWE.
On Wednesday, Fightful reported that “Jericho has been discussed internally for an AEW return.” With AEW: Dynamite airing this week in the town he was born in, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, fans and pundits are starting to believe the former AEW World Champion may end up back in the company soon.
If he does make a surprise return on Dynamite, or in the near future, let’s look at five AEW feuds we would like to see Chris Jericho in upon his return.
Jack Perry

In the new year, AEW creative has made a push to establish Jack Perry as a singles star, and holding the National Championship is the proof. Furthermore, he was once looked at as a long-term building block along with Darby Allin, MJF, and Sammy Guevara.
The re-emerging building block taking on the legendary “cornerstone” would make sense and be a great way to put Perry and his title in a major feud.
Brody King

Brody King is another star who has gotten a significant push in 2026. After losing his match against Swerve Strickland at Revolution, the company needs to keep King strong and avoid losing momentum. Having him potentially move into a feud with a legend and multi-time world champion would do that. Jericho could impart a ton of wisdom on the fast-growingJericho star in a lengthy rivalry.
Tommaso Ciampa

With Jericho being one of the original members of the roster, there are few AEW wrestlers he hasn’t faced. However, one of the few left is the new addition, Tommaso Ciampa. With the 55-year-old far removed from his prime, Ciampa offers a good stylistic clash in the ring that is more his speed. But, the verbal interactions between the talented storytellers could be even better.
‘Hangman’ Page

With Adam Page officially out of the world title picture after his loss to MJF at Revolution, AEW must start plotting out ways to keep the AEW great in meaningful feuds that don’t involve a top belt. Page and Jericho last feuded in the very early days of the company’s history back in 2019. Both are different men now, and restarting that rivalry could lead to some entertaining TV in the months ahead.
Ricochet

One of the other AEW stars Chris Jericho has yet to face is the dynamic aerial artist Ricochet. On paper, he would seem to be on too high an athletic level for the Canadian at this point in his career. However, legendary wrestlers can get in the ring and create magic with performers at any speed and strength level.
It would be interesting to see how they could plot out a match that showcases both men’s strengths, but at the very least, it would be something new and different.
