At Double or Nothing in his home state of New York, WWE legend Mick Foley made the jump to the competition and officially joined AEW.

In 2024, the Hall of Famer made plans for a return to the ring, but scrapped them when the effects from multiple concussions made training difficult. However, despite being a few days away from turning 60 years old, a new report from Wrestle Votes claims he is dead set on having one more match and wanted it to be in AEW.

But there are only a few performers on the roster who are the right fit to get a good match out of the senior citizen and take part in a strong build to that bout. With that in mind, here are five perfect opponent options if Mick Foley does have one more match in AEW.

MJF

The obvious pick is current AEW Champion MJF. When Foley was contemplating an in-ring return two years ago, MJF was angling to be his opponent. Their history has natives of the same area in New York, and their opposing styles and looks could deliver some fun storytelling.

Furthermore, the AEW champ isn’t a performer who relies heavily on his athleticism to put on good matches. He can if he has to, but he is one of the company’s best performers because he can put on great matches without high-flying moves. It makes him a good fit for what Foley can offer in the ring at this point in his life.

Jon Moxley

AEW’s top star when it comes to violent, hardcore wrestling is the one and only Jon Moxley. Foley won’t be able to do a lot in the ring, but the king of hardcore will still be able to dabble in some violent and bloody action. If the hardcore legend is going to have an entertaining return to the ring, a violent gore fest with Moxley is a good option for him and the company.

Kevin Knight

Foley could go in an unexpected direction and look to help elevate a young star in a return match. That is why a performer like Kevin Knight can’t be ruled out. If you haven’t noticed, AEW boss Tony Khan is high on the TNT Champion, and with good reason. He is a very talented in-ring performer with a bunch of charisma, and the company seems to have big long-term plans for him.

The 2004 hardcore match between Foley and Randy Orton helped legitimize the latter with WWE fans and kicked off his journey to becoming a future legend. Foley could aim to do the same for Knight. And after his recent heel turn, feuding with the wrestling great would help boost his status among the company’s top bad guys.

Ricochet

While many performers on the AEW roster are a couple of gears too fast for Mick Foley, one star who is skilled at slowing down and still selling at an elite level is Ricochet. His recent feud with Chris Jericho is proof of his ability to augment his super-athletic style to the speed of an older performer.

A match with Ricochet would be unexpected, but it could be a ton of fun as the hardcore legend pulls the high flyer down into dark places. Plus, the former National Champion could sell his butt off and make Foley look great.

Tommaso Ciampa

In a short amount of time, NXT legend Tommaso Ciampa has emerged as one of AEW’s best baddies. A truly evil heel could get the most out of Foley on the mic, and that is why Ciampa would be a great option for a final match. Plus, he is a very talented wrestler who can tell a great in-ring story without high-flying or speed-centric moves.
