There have been many reports that indicate Teddy Bridgewater could miss the entire 2017 season as he rehabs the knee injury that kept him out all last season. However, based on what Adrian Peterson has seen firsthand, the Minnesota Vikings could get their quarterback back at some point next season.
TMZ Sports caught up with Peterson on Friday night and asked him about Bridgewater’s recovery.
“He’s doing good,” Peterson said, adding “I don’t think it’s a full next season” in response to whether Bridgewater would be out the entire year.
When pressed a bit further about Bridgewater missing the entire 2017 campaign, Peterson said, “I doubt it.”
The Vikings appear to be in the same boat as Peterson when it comes to optimism, as the franchise is reportedly set to pick up his fifth-year option for the 2018 season.
In the meantime, Sam Bradford is still on board for at least one more year, as his contract runs through 2017.
It’s going to be interesting to continue tracking the progress of Bridgewater, who was showing tremendous promise as a franchise passer for the Vikings before his knee came apart at the seams during training camp. His injury was once thought to be potentially career-threatening, though it seems that isn’t going to be the case going forward.
