Aaron Judge sets MLB rookie record with 50th home run

MLB stars Aaron Judge

New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge made MLB history on Monday. His second home run was his 50th of the season, establishing a new MLB rookie record.

The record-setting home run came against Kansas City Royals pitcher Trevor Cahill.

The previous record had stood for 30 years, with Mark McGwire hitting 49 in 1987 for the Oakland Athletic.

Judge is also the fifth Yankee to top the mark. It had previously been done by Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, and Alex Rodriguez. It’s the ninth time in team history that 50 home runs has been reached, with Ruth reaching the mark four times and Mantle doing so twice.
