San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was inactive for Sunday’s soggy season opener at Chicago.

Kittle, 28, sustained a groin injury in Monday’s practice and was not able to get back on the field this week.

The three-time Pro Bowl selection caught 71 passes for 910 yards and six touchdowns in 14 starts last season.

Also inactive for the 49ers were quarterback Brock Purdy, running back Ty Davis-Price, wide receiver Danny Gray, defensive lineman Jordan Willis, and offensive linemen Daniel Brunskill and Nick Zakelj.

Inactive players for the Bears were wide receiver Velus Jones Jr., tight end Trevon Wesco, defensive back Elijah Hicks, defensive lineman Kingsley Jonathan, and offensive linemen Ja’Tyre Carter and Alex Leatherwood.
