Just a few weeks into his first training camp as a member of the San Francisco 49ers, Pro Bowl center Jeremy Zuttah has been released.
The team announced the move Wednesday afternoon.

It’s somewhat of a major surprise considering Zuttah was acquired in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens just a few short months back.
Though, the nine-year veteran had been trending downward in a training camp competition with fellow center Daniel Kilgore. If Zuttah was not being tasked with starting, there was really no reason to keep him around.
A Pro Bowler last season with the Ravens, Zuttah now hits the open market. The veteran was set to count $3.5 million against the cap in 2017.
