The San Francisco 49ers and first-year general manager John Lynch made a major statement on Friday afternoon, releasing starting cornerback Tramaine Brock mere hours after it was reported that he was arrested for a domestic altercation with his girlfriend.

It’s a swift move from an organization that’s attempting to change the culture in Santa Clara. It also comes after Brock himself was released from a Santa Clara jail after posting $50,000 in bond.

Brock, 28, has started 31 of a possible 32 games over the past two seasons and was likely going to be one of the team’s two starting corners this upcoming season.
