San Francisco 49ers All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams missed his seventh consecutive practice on Wednesday due to what has been reported as a low-ankle sprain.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that there’s more to the injury.

“Yeah, I think obviously there is,” Shanahan told reporters. “I mean, he’s got a lot of history in there with stuff. It didn’t show up as a high or anything like that, but when you’ve had that over your career, there’s a number of things that, with how it’s taken longer than expected to heal, it’s more than a low.”

Williams, 35, was injured against the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 15 and finished that game, only to miss the next two contests. The 49ers (5-3), who play the host Jacksonville Jaguars (6-2) on Sunday, hope Williams can participate in practice on Thursday.

Jaylon Moore would start in place of Williams for the third straight game.

Left guard Aaron Banks (turf toe) and wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud III (illness) also didn’t practice Wednesday, while defensive lineman Drake Jackson (knee) was limited and wide receiver Deebo Samuel was a full participant after returning from a hairline fracture in his shoulder earlier this week.

Williams, a 10-time Pro Bowl selection and first-team All-Pro in 2021 and 2022, is in the season of a six-year, $138 million contract through the 2026 season.
