49ers’ Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel day-to-day

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, wide receiver Deebo Samuel and left tackle Trent Williams are day-to-day after not participating in Thursday’s practice.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that McCaffrey, who was injured in Sunday’s 19-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns, is only dealing with an oblique issue, as the rib injury is no longer a concern.

Regarding McCaffrey’s MRI, Shanahan was asked by reporters if the result was encouraging.

“I thought it was,” Shanahan said. “Anyone who’s day-to-day, it means they’ve got a chance.”

Along with McCaffrey, Samuel (shoulder) and Williams (ankle), linebacker Dre Greenlaw (hamstring) and guard Aaron Banks (ankle) did not take part in Thursday’s practice.

Preparing for Monday night’s road game against the Minnesota Vikings (2-4), the 49ers (5-1) will also practice Friday and Saturday.
