San Francisco 49ers guard Alex Boone has agreed to a new two-year contract with the team and will report to the team facility within the next 24 hours. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the news.

In what equates to more of a re-working of his current deal, Boone will make $6 million over the course of the next two years. In addition to this, the 49ers will not have the opportunity to place the franchise tag on Boone following the 2016 season.
Boone has been a hold out during all of training camp and the preseason. As one of the best young guards in the NFL, San Francisco needed him back in the lineup. With the former Ohio State standout now in the loop, the 49ers offensive line, once considered the best in the NFL, takes a huge step forward.
It’s been a busy news day in Santa Clara, as defensive tackle Ray McDonald was arrested on domestic violence. At least, there is some good news to report here.
