The first week of the 2022 Spring Split in the North American LCS wrapped up with five matches on Sunday. Four teams concluded the weekend unbeaten.
In Sunday’s marquee matchup, Cloud9 (2-0) continued to show out, playing their brand of League of Legends and taking down a very strong Evil Geniuses (1-1) in 38 minutes. Cloud9 continued to play with enchanters in the mid lane, putting Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami on Soraka to secure a strong late game.
Evil Geniuses did what they could to put top laner Jeong “Impact” Eon-young’s Tryndamere in a position where he could carry, but they couldn’t overcome C9’s late game teamfighting and the heroics of bot laner Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol’s Aphelios.
100 Thieves (2-0) continued to look strong in their 31-minute win against Counter Logic Gaming (0-2). 100T were dominant from early on, with jungler Can “Closer” Çelik’s Xin Zhao running rampant in the early game.
100 Thieves leveraged early advantages into leads across the map, establishing control of the game that lasted through the 31-minute win.
In similarly dominant fashion, Team Liquid (1-1) took down Immortals (0-2) in 29 minutes. Mid laner Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg’s signature Zilean enabled the rest of Liquid to take down Immortals, building a strong gold lead and snowballing that into a victory.
Elsewhere in the league, FlyQuest (2-0) utilized the top lane enchanter + smite for the second time this season, playing well until the mid game, where costly mistakes threatened to lose them the game. Fortunately, jungler Brandon Joel “Josedeodo” Villegas’ Lee Sin stole Baron Nashor, letting FlyQuest snatch a win from Golden Guardians (0-2) in 34 minutes.
Finally, Dignitas (2-0) defeated TSM (0-2) in 38 minutes as TSM’s new roster continued to show growing pains. DIG played well around objectives and converted several close teamfights into wins down the stretch.
