Randy Cross was a key member of three Super Bowl-winning teams during his stellar 13-year career with the San Francisco 49ers. In addition to his accomplishments on the gridiron, Cross is also creating another legacy by donating his brain to science in order to help future generations of football players make informed decisions.
In a short video explaining why he is donating his brain to the Concussion Legacy Foundation, Cross also pleads with other players, both at the pro and college level, to donate their brains.
Some info on why I donated my brain to study, who its going to and how more can helphttps://t.co/Bsou6a5Oga #FindingTheCause pic.twitter.com/DmUx1sYWgR

“We can’t do enough of this,” Cross said. “I would call every single player who’s ever played in college or professionally. Consider donating your brain. There’s no limit on how much you played or anything else. We need a baseline. Think about this: This is for all the current players and the future players, so they make informed decisions.”
The science surrounding concussions, CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) and other brain-related trauma has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years, but there is still so much more to learn.
With that in mind, we laud the efforts of Cross and others like him who are doing everything in their power to help the athletes of today and tomorrow come to a better understanding of what exactly they’re signing up for when it comes to the game of football.
