New York Yankees call up former top prospect Clint Frazier

Yankees' Clint Frazier during exhibition game against the Mets

When star outfielder Giancarlo Stanton was placed in the injured list this past weekend, most figured the New York Yankees were going to call up Clint Frazier from their alternate site.

That did not happen. Instead, New York’s brass went with the lesser-known Thairo Estrada. Two days later, and Frazier will join the Yankees for their game against the Atlanta Braves.

Yankees call up Clint Frazier from alternate site

Acquired from the Cleveland Indians in the Andrew Miller blockbuster trade back in July of 2016, Frazier has long been considered one of the Yankees’ top prospects.

A former top-five pick, Frazier made his Major League debut with New York back in 2017. However, he has not been able to stick with the big league club on a consistent basis.

The 25-year-old Georgia native did display flashes last season. Frazier hit .267 with 12 homers, 38 RBI and an .806 OPS in 69 games with the Yankees.

The hope here in the Bronx is that Frazier sticks with the big league club permanently. He’ll certainly have his chances.
