The St. Louis Cardinals will not host the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday following more bad news for the team on the COVID-19 front.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network shared the news on this story Saturday morning.

It’s the second day in a row that the Cardinals had to postpone due to positive COVID-19 tests.

Cardinals now dealing with full-blown COVID-19 outbreak

Saturday morning, reports emerged that the Cardinals had multiple more positive COVID-19 tests come back overnight.

Trevor Plouffe of Jomboy Media reported that “at least four” more players tested positive, while Craig Mish heard that there were more than five.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic added this note:

The bottom line here is that the Cardinals are now the second MLB team to have a full-blown outbreak of COVID-19 on their hands. The Miami Marlins are currently out of commission due to a stunning 18 positive tests.

Is the 2020 MLB season in jeopardy?

All this comes on the heels of a Friday report that MLB commissioner Rob Manfred has warned the players that another outbreak could cause the entire season to be canceled.

Now, we have one. And it’s going to be very interesting to see how the league handles this situation. It’s worth noting that the two outbreaks occurred in different divisions, with Miami and St. Louis having had no contact with one another.
