On Friday, Orlando Magic big man Jonathan Isaac became the first NBA player to not take a knee or wear a Black Lives Matter shirt during the anthem since the season restarted in Orlando.

He stood while all the other players and coaches took a knee, wearing his Magic jersey instead of the BLM shirt the other players wore. You can check out the scene here.

After Friday’s game, which the Magic won over the Brooklyn Nets by the score of 128-118, Isaac was asked why he made his decision. With his answer, he cited his religious beliefs and said, “kneeling or wearing a Black Lives Matter T-shirt didn’t go hand in hand with supporting Black Lives.”

Whether you agree with him or not, Isaac is at least holding true to his convictions. And thank goodness we live in a nation that supports our right to do just that.
