The Washington Wizards will be one of 22 teams set to resume the 2019-20 NBA season at Walt Disney World on July 30.

Though, the team’s star player might not join the rest of his squad in Orlando.

All-Star guard Bradley Beal undecided about opting out of 2019-20 season

It’s fairly significant news that one of the best players in the Association has yet to commit to returning to the season.

Washington sits at 24-40 and as the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference. It is 5.5 games behind the Orlando Magic for the eighth seed with eight regular-season games remaining.

If Washington were within four games of Orlando when the season comes to a conclusion, the two would play a best-of-three play-in tournament.

Beal could join Davis Bertans in opting out of the season

It was just recently that star Wizards forward Davis Bertans announced he’s opting out of returning to the season. Bertans is slated to become a free agent in October and doesn’t want to risk his health.

His decision has been met by widespread criticism around the NBA.

2019-20 NBA season set to resume July 30

If Beal does indeed opt out, he’ll join other important figures in making that decision amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Though, the star would be the highest-profile player to opt against resuming the season.

The 2019-20 campaign is slated to return July 30 at Walt Disney World in Orlando. Of course, that’s dependent on how the virus plays out over the next few weeks.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver noted recently that there’s a chance the pandemic could halt the season in its tracks.
