On Monday, the NFL offered to cancel the preseason altogether. On Tuesday, the NFLPA made it official on a conference call with the players.

This is one of the things the players have pushed extremely hard for as they attempt to safely navigate the COVID-19 pandemic this summer. They also won a huge victory by getting the NFL to agree to daily coronavirus testing — at least for the first two weeks of training camp.

As news of the preseason being canceled made its way around social media, the sports world chimed in with reactions. Many were sad for the players who were long shots to make the team to begin with, because preseason games tend to be when they get the chance to shine.
