Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman Chance Warmack will become the third NFL player to opt-out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Seattle Seahawks OL Chance Warmack to sit out 2020 season

The Seahawks signed Warmack to a one-year contract this offseason, hoping the veteran could provide depth on the interior offensive line. The 28-year-old sat out the previous season, but had planned to play this year before the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

Warmack, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, will instead spend another season on the sidelines. While his absence will be a blow for Seattle’s offensive line depth, which could be more crucial than ever this season, 2020 third-round pick Damien Lewis is expected to start at guard this year.

The NFL is still working on an official opt-out clause for the 2020 season, but Warmack is unlikely to be the last player to voluntarily sit out this year.

What NFL players will sit out this season?

Warmack becomes the second offensive lineman to exercise the opt-out clause for the upcoming NFL season. Additionally, he is the second player to decide today not to take part in the 2020 schedule.
