The Philadelphia Eagles were busy this offseason making big moves for cornerback Darius Slay and defensive tackle Javon Hargrave. Now, per NFL analyst Brian Baldinger, another blockbuster move could be on the horizon.

Philadelphia Eagles to make a big move before training camp?

According to NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger, the Philadelphia Eagles could break big news this week with a significant addition to their club. While Baldinger doesn’t provide specifics, the player would seem to be a significant addition to the club before the 2020 NFL season.

The Eagles are expected to report for training camp on July 28, so any player that signs would still have a little time to prepare before joining his new team. Of course, the team has been connected to several big names in recent weeks.

What player could the Eagles land?

The Eagles will head into training camp with multiple areas of need. The team lost its top guard Brandon Brooks to a torn Achilles in June, creating a massive hole on the offensive line. In addition, Philadelphia could use an upgrade to its defense and more depth at running back.

The club could address the need at offensive guard with a blockbuster trade for All-Pro Joe Thuney, who they are very high on. However, that would require working out a deal with Bill Belichick and the recent addition of Cam Newton makes it unlikely that Thuney is dealt.

Philadelphia has also been connected to New York Jets safety Jamal Adams. The All-Pro defensive back would be a tremendous addition to this secondary and the organization would love to keep him from the Dallas Cowboys. However, the Jets are determined to keep Adams this year.

Adding talent via the free-agent market is the likeliest scenario. The Eagles have expressed interest in Jadeveon Clowney and the star edge rusher is open to a one-year deal for the chance to compete for a Super Bowl.

Finally, general manager Howie Roseman could add crucial depth behind running back Miles Sanders. Multiple players have campaigned for a reunion with LeSean McCoy and the move would strengthen Philadelphia’s backfield.
