The Big Ten might have started a trend earlier in the week when the conference announced that its 2020 college football schedule would include conference games only.

That came after the Ivy League announced that all fall sports would be canceled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Another major conference has now followed suit.

Pac-12 announces conference-only schedule for 2020 fall sports, college football included

We’re now highly likely to see all Power Five conferences come to the same conclusion. It’s obviously going to have a major impact on the 2020 college football season.

Will the 2020 college football season go on as planned?

There’s a growing belief around the nation that the start of the season will have to at least be postponed. It was slated to start late next month.

As for the NCAA, it seems that the governing body is leaving these decisions up to the conferences and schools.

The one important note here is that the college football season normally tends to start with non-conference games. If other conferences follow suit, it stands to reason that the start of the season will be postponed.

This also means that the widely talked about game between the USC Trojans and Alabama Crimson Tide slated for Sept. 5 has been canceled.
