The first team listed with any hint of a need at the quarterback position is the Jaguars. They are seemingly ready to put all their eggs in the Gardner Minshew basket.
The Chargers could bring Kaepernick in, and it would make plenty of sense. He would sell a ton of tickets and jerseys, and Justin Herbert could easily sit for a year or two behind the veteran. That said, Los Angeles loves Tyrod Taylor, and head coach Anthony Lynn said Wednesday he’s happy with the three quarterbacks he has on the roster.
All the other teams listed here are set at the quarterback position. So if they signed Kaepernick it would be strictly as a backup. The interesting thing here is that Baltimore, which has MVP Lamar Jackson, is atop the list. The Ravens also have Robert Griffin III, so they really don’t “need” Kaepernick.
Will Colin Kaepernick be signed by an NFL team before Week 1?
The NFL is making a big push right now to show it supports Kaepernick. Commissioner Roger Goodell recently encouraged a team to sign the quarterback, and NFL’s head of Football Operations Troy Vincent said he’s earned the right to compete for a job.
That being said, the odds are stacked against Kaepernick being signed before Week 1.

The Philadelphia Eagles said Wednesday that they wouldn’t rule out signing Kaepernick. That was pretty much the same thing the Chargers conveyed as well. But at this point, given it’s been three-plus years and nobody’s signed him, Kaepernick may have to wait a while longer to get his second NFL chance.
