On Tuesday, the FBI issued a statement declaring “no federal crime was committed” after discovering the noose that was found in Bubba Wallace’s garage stall had been there since October of 2019.

Here’s the full statement, courtesy of Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass:

Through video evidence, the FBI determined that the noose had been in the stall long before Wallace was assigned to it. The main point of the issue, from the FBI statement, is that “nobody could have known Mr. Wallace would be assigned to garage number 4 last week.”

The NASCAR community got behind Wallace in a huge, meaningful way Monday evening before the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. After the noose was discovered on Sunday, Wallace and his No. 43 car were ushered to the front of the starting line ahead of the race in an incredible show of solidarity for the African-American racer (watch here).

Needless to say, after the FBI statement circulated around Twitter, the reactions from fans everywhere were strong, and mixed.
