Tampa Bay Buccaneers announce multiple players test positive for COVID-19

On Saturday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that at least two Buccaneers’ players tested positive for COVID-19. The positive tests came just days after one of the team’s assistants contracted the virus and two others were placed into quarantine.

Following the report of the positive test, the Buccaneers confirmed that multiple individuals tested positive for the coronavirus. In the press release, the team indicated it has already implemented its COVID-19 response plan and vacated the impacted facility.

The team will continue to allow its phase one employees involved in essential operations to keep using the team’s headquarters.

The Buccaneers have now become just one of the latest NFL teams to report multiple cases of COVID-19 on their roster. As the instances of positive tests increases, the chances of the season starting on time become far less likely.
