Julian Edelman can’t wait to prove he and the Patriots are still good without Tom Brady

Julian Edelman of the New England Patriots

New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman is apparently pretty fired up to play the 2020 NFL season without Tom Brady.

Edelman upset about perception he is a product of Brady

Michael Giardi of NFL Network shared an enlightening quote about Edelman’s mindset from a Patriots teammate. Long story short, he’s ticked off that people think the Patriots are “no good and that he’s just a product of Brady.”

Edelman has spent his entire pro career with Brady and the Patriots. Originally a seventh-round pick out of Kent State, he hauled in 599 passes for 6,507 yards and 36 touchdowns playing with the all-time great.

All that is about to change. Brady is gone now, set to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it’s a new era in New England.

Who will start at quarterback for the Patriots?

Whether the Patriots stink or stay competitive in 2020 will likely be determined by the play of whoever lines up under center. Brady has been starting games for New England the past two decades. So who’s going to take his place?

My money’s on Jarrett Stidham, who was a fourth-round pick out of Auburn last season. The Patriots reportedly feel great about his ability to take over. And he was highly thought of during his college days playing for Gus Malzahn and the Tigers.

If not Stidham, then veteran Brian Hoyer will likely be throwing the pigskin to Edelman and the Patriots in 2020. Unless, of course, they can figure out how to pay Cam Newton what he’s worth.
