The NBA conducted widespread COVID-19 testing this week, just over a month before the 2019-20 season is set to resume at Walt Disney World.

Depending on how you look at this, the following news could actually be good.

A total of 16 NBA players test positive for COVID-19

The positive test rate of 5.3% is much lower than the 10% the World Health Organization recommends for reopening economies amid the pandemic. Given the measures in place to return to the season in Orlando’s bubble city, this is probably good news.

NBA teams were anticipating a number of players testing positive. In reality, only 16 coming back positive has to be seen as pretty good news.

This all comes with the state of Florida seeing record increases in COVID-19 cases over the past week. It is joined by California, Arizona and Texas on that less-than-ideal list.

The NBA season is set to resume July 30 with 22 of the league’s 30 teams returning to action. Though, some players have already decided to opt out.
