Wizards star pushes back against police after on-air arrest of CNN reporter

NBA power rankings: Bradley Beal, Wizards

Things are escalating around the United States mere days after an unarmed African-American man by the name of George Floyd died while in custody of authorities on Tuesday.

We’ve seen protests pop up around the United States in the days since. Some have turned violent. Looting has occurred.

Early Friday morning in Minnesota, things escalated even further. That included CNN reporter Omar Jimenez and his crew being arrested on live television while reporting on a police blockade in Minneapolis.

The scene was unreal, especially given the respectful manner in which Jimenez interacted with authorities.

As we have seen since the day of Mr. Floyd’s tragic death, the sports world continues to speak out about the situation at hand.

The latest example is Washington Wizards star guard Bradley Beal, who compared the video above to the fact that the four police officers involved in Young’s death have not been arrested themselves. It certainly is a stark contrast.

It sure looks like a sports world that has in the past stood up against racial injustice is not going to go quietly into the night.

For the purpose of full disclosure, the officers involved in Floyd’s death have been terminated. Though, they have yet to be charged.

As it relates to an American reporter being arrested for doing his job, Jimenez is thankful for one thing upon his release.
