New York Jets star: Trading Jamal Adams would be ‘crazy’

There have been rumors swirling for over a year that the New York Jets could trade Jamal Adams. One of his teammates thinks that’s crazy.

The former No. 6 overall pick out of LSU was drafted to anchor the Jets defense. Since 2017, Adams has done just that. Yet the trade rumors have persisted.

C.J. Mosley: Jets trading Jamal Adams would be ‘a crazy move’

Speaking about the trade rumors, Jets star linebacker C.J. Mosley said it would be “a crazy move,” per ESPN’s Rich Cimini.

“First of all, he’s one of the leaders on the team,” Mosley said. “That’s first and foremost. He brings that extra energy whether guys want it or not. Sometimes you might be tired or not feeling good, but as soon as he steps on the field, you’re going to hear that voice and he’ll be flying around. To have that presence in the secondary, a guy that can make plays in the passing game and also plays in the backfield — in the box — that’s always exciting.”

For what it’s worth, the Jets recently picked up Adams’ fifth-year option. General manager Joe Douglas has said he wants Adams to be a part of the team’s long-term plans, too. So, it doesn’t seem like a “crazy” trade is going to happen any time soon.

In the meantime, though, Adams has not been participating in the Jets’ offseason program. He wants a new long-term deal, and given his caliber of play he’s in line to rake in a massive contract.
