Cowboys reported offer to Dak Prescott is eye-opening

NFL, training camp

The situation between franchise quarterback Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys likely won’t be settled any time soon.

At issue here is the length of said contract after Dallas placed the franchise tag on Prescott back in March. The Pro Bowl signal caller wants a four-year deal while the Cowboys are urging him to commit to five years.

According to this report from Cowboys insider Mike Fisher, Dallas is said to be offering a whopping $35 million annually over five seasons with $106-plus million guaranteed.

The $35 million would match the deal Russell Wilson is playing under with the Seattle Seahawks.

Time is of the essence for Dallas here. It is already slated to pay Prescott $31.41 million under the franchise tag next season.

With reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes nearing a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans star Deshaun Watson likely resetting the market here soon, the Cowboys can’t afford to wait.

Once those two players sign, the entire dynamic as it relates to contract talks with Prescott would change. That’s for sure.
