More bad news for Chiefs CB Bashaud Breeland after arrest

On Tuesday night, Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Bashaud Breeland was arrested, and he faces five charges stemming from that arrest.

That’s not the only bad news.

Bashaud Breeland was already facing four-game suspension

On Wednesday, reporting alongside Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Tom Pelissero shared that Breeland was already facing a four-game suspension for a separate violation of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

The NFL has significantly relaxed its policy about cannabis due to the recently ratified CBA between the league and NFLPA.

However, Breeland had already been suspended once after being cited for marijuana possession. Due to that, he was already in the league’s program for substance abuse. The potential four-game ban he’s facing indicates he failed multiple tests since then.

The Chiefs signed Breeland to a one-year contract this offseason that has a base salary of $3 million. He started 15 games for the franchise last season and was a key member of their Super Bowl run.
