Jared Goff willing to restructure contract to free up cap space for Rams

Jared Goff is the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL this season, and his bloated contract is a millstone around the neck of the Los Angeles Rams.

With that in mind, this seems relevant: Goff said Wednesday that he’s open to a contract restructuring to free up cap space for the Rams, per Omar Ruiz of NFL Network.

At this time, Goff has a cap hit in 2020 of $36 million — $5 million more than any other quarterback in the NFL. The Rams are in cap hell at this time, thanks to a brutal series of ill-conceived extensions and trades.

Just how bad is it? According to Over The Cap, the Rams are currently more than $5 million in the red.

So with that in mind, Goff’s offer certainly is something the Rams need to look into.
