This spring, the team selected LSU star Joe Burrow with the first pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, signaling the end of an era. Now the Bengals have taken the final step to move on from Dalton.

On Thursday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Bengals are releasing their former starter — an expected move.
Dalton was due to make $16.2 million in 2020, with only $200,000 in guaranteed money. This move saves Cincinnati $16 million against the cap, and it indicates the team will have no real quarterback controversy in 2020.
Joe Burrow will almost certainly start games right out of the gate this coming season — something he already expects will happen.
For Dalton, it stands to reason he’ll land on his feet with a new team in short order. Throughout his nine-year career, he’s racked up 31,594 yards with 204 touchdowns and 118 interceptions.
