Could the Vikings trade star S Anthony Harris during the draft?

Anthony Harris trade

Former undrafted safety Anthony Harris had a coming-out party for his Minnesota Vikings in 2019. The Virginia product recorded 60 tackles, 11 passes defended and a league-high six interceptions.

It led Minnesota to place the dreaded franchise tag on the 28-year-old Harris with a huge $11.44 million 2020 cap hit. It’s also led to speculation that Minnesota could trade Harris.

That’s now been taken to a whole new level. According to this report, negotiations between Harris and the Vikings have not gone swimmingly. It’s so bad that he could potentially be dealt during the NFL Draft later this month.

The Cleveland Browns have been the team bandied about the most around the NFL water cooler. Whether they make a renewed play to acquire Harris after signing Karl Joseph earlier in the offseason remains to be seen.

However, Harris is more of a single-high free safety. That role is currently being held by former Vikings teammate Andrew Sendejo, who is no longer a starter-caliber player at this point in his career.

Any move to acquire Harris would likely require a second-round pick. Is that a price teams are willing to pay for a player with one Pro Bowl caliber campaign under his belt?
