Antonio Brown has frequently found himself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past year. Now with his eyes set on a comeback and a new agent supporting him, Brown is making the news for the right reasons and helping others.
Brown announced on Friday that he’ll be helping provide for those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic by donating essential supplies to communities in Miami. From food to sanitary equipment, the All-Pro receiver is doing what he can to help others.
Coming off an outstanding 2018 season, things unraveled quickly for the talented receiver in 2019. After being traded to the Oakland Raiders, Brown went through a series of extreme behavioral issues. He was released before the regular season began and quickly signed with the New England Patriots.
But the 31-year-old receiver didn’t last long in New England. The Patriots released him just weeks after signing him when the NFL launched an investigation into sexual assault allegations against him. He then went through another stretch of more off-field issues following his release, including an arrest in January for battery.
Brown vowed to take responsibility for his past behavior in March and trained with Lamar Jackson, but the Baltimore Ravens aren’t interested in adding him. However, it’s showing that the former star receiver is working to turn his life around.
It’s great to see him taking the first steps toward redemption and proving he might be changing for the better. While he’s still likely to face a suspension from the NFL, the positive actions of late are exactly what Roger Goodell wanted to see.
