Report: Packers to release Jimmy Graham Thursday

The Green Bay Packers will reportedly release tight end Jimmy Graham on Thursday after two seasons with the club, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Graham signed a three-year, $30 million contract with Green Bay ahead of the 2018 season. Cutting him will save the Packers $8 million in cap space.

During his time in Green Bay, Graham failed to mesh well with Aaron Rodgers. In two seasons with the Packers he caught 93 passes but managed just 1,083 yards and, disappointingly, just five touchdowns.

Once among the NFL’s most potent scoring weapons during his days with the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks, Graham has certainly taken a step back in the past couple of years. That being said, he should still land another gig fairly soon with a team in need of a red-zone threat.
