Report: Jadeveon Clowney expected to return to Seahawks on short-term deal

Jadeveon Clowney Seahawks

He’s the biggest name remaining on the NFL free-agent market after a crazy past three days. Former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney also isn’t being met with the market that he had expected after an injury-plagued first season with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Pro Bowl edge rusher is said to be looking for $20 million annually, something teams have pushed back against. Now comes this report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler indicating that Clowney could be open to a shorter-term team. People around the NFL also expect him to ultimately re-sign in Seattle.

Clowney, 27, recorded just 13 quarterback hits and three sacks for Seattle last season after being acquired from the Houston Texans. That came on the heels of three consecutive Pro Bowl appearances.

Despite bringing back former first-round pick Bruce Irvingin free agency on Wednesday, Seattle is in need of more pass-rush help. Re-signing Clowney would obviously be a step in the right direction.
