There had been no free agency deals for running backs yet, but the Miami Dolphins changed by agreeing to a contract with Jordan Howard.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Tuesday that the Dolphins “are closing in on a deal” for the former Pro Bowler, who played with the Philadelphia Eagles last season.

Shortly afterward, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the deal was agreed upon, noting the terms of the contract are two years for $10 million.

Howard was a mainstay for the Chicago Bears from 2016-17, when he racked up 2,435 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. Once Matt Nagy arrived on the scene in 2018, however, Howard’s role in Chicago diminished, along with his production.

Last season with Philly, Howard totaled 594 yards and seven touchdowns from scrimmage in 10 games played.

Miami has already been extremely active in free agency, and on Monday the Fins landed two of the top defensive free agents this year.
