In an announcement that expected, the Brooklyn Nets indicated on Tuesday that star guard Kyrie Irving has undergone shoulder surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.

Brooklyn’s statement said that Irving underwent arthroscopic surgery to relieve a right shoulder impingement on Tuesday.

A free-agent signing of the Nets back in July, Irving has not suited up since all the way back on February 1.

He’s played in a grand total of 20 games this season, averaging 27.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists on 48% shooting from the field.

To say that Irving’s first season as a member of the Nets was disastrous would be an understatement. It now ends with a major thud.
