Nebraska HC Fred Hoiberg taken to hospital with illness during game

Fred Hoiberg

Things are certainly escalating around the sports world when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier on Wednesday, the NBA announced that its season has been suspended indefinitely after Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus.

When it comes to the college basketball world, the NCAA also announced that its men’s and women’s postseason tournaments will be played without fans in attendance.

As the games continued to go on Wednesday evening, Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg was seen visibly ill on the bench during their game against Indiana in the Big 10 Tournament.

There’s absolutely no reason to speculate what the illness is. However, people were ordered to stay away from the locker room following Nebraska’s loss.

The former Chicago Bulls head coach was then immediately sent to a local hospital for further tests.

The obvious question is why Hoiberg was coaching in the first place. Obviously, the hope here is that this isn’t as serious as it seems.

We’ll have further updates on the situation.
