Bears close headquarters, cancel NFL Draft party amid coronavirus outbreak

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Multiple NFL teams have taken it upon themselves to react to the coronavirus pandemic plaguing the United States and the rest of the world.

The Chicago Bears represent the latest team to do just that. They announced Thursday evening that both of their facilities will be closed down. Chicago is also suspending air travel for employees, cancelling pre-draft visits and has decided to cancel its NFL Draft party slated for next month.

These measures have been put in place due to the unknown after the World Health Organization (WHO) classified COVID-19 as a pandemic earlier in the week.

It comes with the NFL considering pushing back the start of free agency. We’re also not too sure if the NFL Draft will be held in its current form next month in Las Vegas.

As the rest of the sports world waits in a holding pattern, it looks like the NFL is going to join them here soon. The Bears are the latest example.
