Steve Kerr: Warriors will update Stephen Curry’s status March 1

Stephen Curry injury

Time is running out for the bottom-feeding Golden State Warriors to get two-time MVP Stephen Curry back in the fold.

Curry has been out since the fifth game of the season after suffering a broken hand against the Phoenix Suns.

While the star guard has noted that he’ll return this season, rushing him back seems to make little sense. Golden State heads into Wednesday’s game against the Suns with an NBA-worst 12-42 record.

Despite this, it looks like Curry could at least make a cameo as the season nears its end. Head coach Steve Kerr noted on Wednesday that they will provide another update on Curry’s status on March 1.

March has been the target date for Curry to return. It remains to be seen if the Warriors being in the midst of a lost season changes the dynamic here. Though, there’s little risk to further injury as it relates to said hand.

With Curry out for the vast majority of the season and fellow star Klay Thompson sidelined since tearing his ACL in last year’s NBA Finals, this has been seen as a gap year for the Warriors. It might benefit the team to rest Curry for the remainder of the season.

Then again, the recent acquisition of Andrew Wiggins could change this. Golden State’s brass will likely want to see how Wiggins and Curry work together before the summer hits.
