Report: Dodgers’ Joc Pederson traded to Angels

Joc Pederson, trade, Dodgers, Angels

Moments after completing a blockbuster trade to land Mookie Betts, the Los Angeles Dodgers have now traded outfielder Joc Pederson to the Los Angeles Angels.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Pederson is headed to the Angels in a one-for-one deal that sends infielder Luis Rengifo to the Dodgers.

The 27-year-old outfielder gives the Angels another powerful bat to add to their lineup. Pederson hit 36 homers this past season and posted a .876 OPS across 450 at-bats with the Dodgers. He is arbitration-eligible for the final time this season before becoming a free agent in the offseason.

He will likely slide into right field with Justin Upton holding his regular spot in left. It’s another big improvement for a lineup that added Anthony Rendon to pair with Mike Trout at the top of the lineup.

Rengifo ranked as the No. 10 prospect in the Angels’ farm system in 2018, per MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old infielder made his MLB debut this season and posted a .238/.321/.364 slash line across 357 at-bats.

He will likely serve as infield depth for the Dodgers this season and could spend time in the minors.
