Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio announced he is retiring after 13 seasons with the Spartans.

The 63-year-old coach announced on Tuesday that he is stepping down as Michigan State’s football coach before the 2020 season. In a statement, he said that he will remain within the athletic department in a role helping players overcome challenges.

Dantoni became Michigan State’s head coach in 2007 and he helped build the program into one of the most respected teams in college football.

He posted a 115-57 record across his 13 seasons with the Spartans, winning three Big Ten titles and recording six double-digit win seasons.
