The Los Angeles Dodgers were already angered after being cheated by the Houston Astros in the 2017 World Series. After hearing Astros owner Jim Crane’s pathetic apology, Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw didn’t hesitate to blast Crane.

Kershaw granted some of the Astros’ players grave for delivering a sincere apology to start spring training. However, Kershaw found Crane’s claim that the cheating didn’t impact the game and he shouldn’t be held accountable for it, to be absurd.

“Some of those guys said the right things, gave a good apology. And that’s great. I’ll move on with that,” Kershaw said, via Jorge Castillo. “And then you get the owner up there saying some dumb stuff and it’s like, ‘What’s going on? How can you be that ignorant to the situation?'”

It’s hard to blame Kershaw for calling Crane’s comments ignorant. The Astros’ owner started his press conference saying the Astros’ methods didn’t impact the game, then claimed he never said it when a reporter challenged him.

Crane’s complete tone-deafness to the matter and his willful ignorance of how cheating impacted players’ careers and the postseason, highlights the problems that remain in Houston. Players around the league aren’t going to forgive this team for their actions any time soon and the weak apologies only made things worse.
