As New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees weighs his future following another playoff exit, at least one television network has reportedly reached out to him to see if he was ready to move into broadcasting.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, a non-ESPN network called Brees to gauge the 40-year-old’s interest in hanging up his cleats and making the switch to broadcasting as Tony Romo did.

Brees has been expected to return to the Saints next season, especially after the team fell short of its Super Bowl expectations. However, he’ll turn 41 on Wednesday and seemed to show real signs of decline in the team’s playoff loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

A source close to Brees told ESPN that the future Hall of Famer hasn’t spoken to anyone about potential new career opportunities. So, for the time being, it appears likely that Brees will be on the field next season rather than in the broadcast booth.

Whenever Brees decides to retire, it’s clear opportunities to join television will be open to him. Given the success Romo has experienced since joining CBS, ti wouldn’t be a surprise if Brees became a coveted option for multiple television networks when he retires.
