Report: NFL likely to reinstate Myles Garrett in the next two months

Myles Garrett reinstated

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell held his state of the league address from the site of Super Bowl LIV in Miami on Wednesday.

As is the case every year, Goodell touched on a number of different subjects. That included the status of troubled free-agent wide receiver Antonio Brown.

Goodell also opened up about Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, who the NFL suspended indefinitely after an ugly incident in which he hit Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph in the face with a helmet back on Nov. 14.

While Goodell wouldn’t go as far as saying Garrett’s reinstatement is imminent, it looks like that will in fact be the case within the next two months.

“Myles Garrett will meet with NFL Roger Goodell within the next 60 days about reinstatement from his indefinite suspension,“ Goodell told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com on Wednesday. “He said he couldn’t characterize how the meeting will go, but one league source said he expects Garrett will be re-instated at that time.”

Garrett’s suspension was always likely to be lifted ahead of Cleveland’s offseason program. This timeline seems to suggest that will very well be the case.

The former No. 1 pick will have to make sure a repeat of the incident we saw against Pittsburgh does not occur again. If it were to, he’d likely be facing a complete ban from the NFL.
