Report: Mike Zimmer’s son candidate to become Vikings OC

Nepotism never met an unfriendly foe. That could apparently be the case when it comes to head coach Mike Zimmer and the Minnesota Vikings.

According to this report, Zimmer has made his son a candidate to become the Vikings’ next defensive coordinator.

Defensive coordinator George Edwards was removed from that role following Saturday’s NFC Divisional Playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Edwards had served as Zimmer’s defensive coordinator for the past six seasons.

Adam Zimmer, 35, did a good job with the Vikings’ linebackers this past season. However, he has no experience as a coordinator in the NFL.

Zimmer’s resume includes stops as an assistant with the Saints, Chiefs and Bengals. He’s been in Minnesota since 2014.

This comes with another father-son combination in that of Gary Kubiak and Klint Kubiak working on offense in Minnesota.
