Report: Broncos fire OC Rich Scangarello after one season

Broncos fire offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello

In a move that pretty much no one saw coming, the Denver Broncos have reportedly decided to fire offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello after just one season.

Despite some major struggles in his first and only season in that role, Scangarello did oversee the development of rookie quarterback Drew Lock late in the season.

That’s why this move is so surprising for head coach Vic Fangio and Co. Continuity should be the name of the game for young quarterbacks in the NFL. As the former quarterbacks coach with the San Francisco 49ers, that’s magnified even more with Scangarello.

All said, Denver finished in the bottom five in points scored and total offense under the the veteran assistant. It’s now back to the drawing board for Fangio and Co.
